San Francisco, CA – Catholic Charities CYO (CCCYO) announced today that Brian Cahill, Executive Director, will retire on January 2, 2009.

CCCYO, one of the largest non-profit providers of social services in the Bay Area, serves families, children, the aging and disabled, and operates camp and athletic programs that support opportunities for healthy growth and development for youth. The agency celebrated its 100th year of service in 2007.

Cahill has served as Executive Director of the agency since 2000, having headed the merger of Catholic Charities and CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) in 2003, and led the agency through challenging times towards it present stability and promising future. During his tenure, CCCYO was awarded four stars from Charity Navigator for the last three consecutive years, designating fiscal health and responsible stewardship.

Reflecting on his decision to retire, Cahill stated, “It has been an absolute honor to have been CCCYO’s Executive Director for almost a decade and to work alongside such an extraordinarily caring and professional staff, a dedicated Board of Directors and the many clients we serve. My time here has truly been a labor of love.”

Speaking on behalf of the CCCYO Board of Directors, President Cecilia Herbert remarked, “Brian brought great integrity and stability to Catholic Charities CYO in the last nine years. We have been blessed to have his passion and wonderful leadership. I am personally grateful for his service and his willingness to stay on through completion this year of several strategic initiatives.”

Although he is retiring from professional service, Cahill says he intends to remain active as a volunteer in the social services field and as a consultant to the organization. Until his retirement date, Cahill will continue on in his existing commitments and duties as Executive Director and will be an integral part of the transition to a new agency Executive Director.
