San Francisco, CA – It was announced today
that San Francisco Catholic Charities CYO Executive Director Brian Cahill
has been voted the President of Catholic Charities of California, the
nonprofit organization representing all twelve of the diocesan Catholic
Charities in California. Mr. Cahill will assume the presidency immediately
for a two year term.
“I am honored to serve an organization that both assists and advocates
on behalf of California’s most vulnerable,” said Cahill.
Prior to being voted President of Catholic Charities of California, Cahill most
recently served as vice president of the organization. As the Executive Director
of Catholic Charities CYO in San Francisco since 2000, Cahill was instrumental
in the reunification of Catholic Charities and CYO, the two largest social service
organizations in the San Francisco Archdiocese. Prior to his work with CYO, he
was the Director of the San Francisco Department of Social Services.
“Brian Cahill’s nomination as president will continue to amplify and expand
the Catholic Charities mission throughout California. His professional experience
is matched only by his dedication to the Catholic Charities community and the
clients we serve,” said Catholic Charities of California Executive Director
Steve Pehanich.
Catholic Charities of California is a mutually supportive network that facilitates
service development and public policy advocacy, and cultivates cooperative support
among the twelve local Catholic Charities in the state. The organization, which
is comprised of members from statewide Catholic Charities, is committed to advancing
solutions at state and local levels that reduce poverty and human suffering.
