San Francisco, CA The 49th
Annual CYO Golf Day returns to Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club
and Stanford University Golf Course in Palo Alto on Monday, May
5, 2008, announced Tournament Chair and former San Francisco 49er Bill
Ring.
CYO Golf Day is the longest-running charitable golf tournament
in the Bay Area and celebrates fellowship, sport and philanthropy
with a singular group of business leaders, CYO supporters, and celebrities—including
Honorary Tournament Chair and San Francisco 49ers Head Coach
Mike Nolan.
“It is our deep belief that every child, regardless
of background or circumstance, is entitled to the simple pleasures of
childhood,” said
Ring. “This belief drives the spirit of CYO Golf Day, which has
raised vital funds for CYO Camp every year since 1959.” All
proceeds from CYO Golf Day make it possible to keep CYO Camp affordable
for an
economically diverse and changing population of San Francisco
Bay Area families.
CYO Camp offers a supportive and challenging summer camp
adventure where children from a variety of ethnic, cultural, religious
and socio-economic backgrounds are able to develop a strong sense
of mutual
respect and community
and have a unique educational and recreational experience regardless
of their ability to pay.
Presented by title sponsor UnitedHealthcare, the day includes
a lunch, a lively afternoon of golf followed by dinner, a live
auction, and raffle—which
features a grand prize trip for two to the 2009 Masters Tournament
or $10,000. A number of current and former San Francisco 49er players
are
expected to be in attendance, including Dwight Clark, Harris
Barton, R. C. Owens, Dana MacLemore, Guy
McIntyre, Eric Wright, Eason
Ramson, Ron
Ferrari, Craig Walsh, and Jamie
Williams.
Tickets to the tournament are $500, which includes lunch,
dinner, cocktails, tee prize and green fees. Raffle tickets for the grand
prize trip for two to the Masters Tournament or $10,000 are
$100
each. For tickets
