San Francisco, CA – It was announced today that the Red House Party, Catholic Charities CYO’s annual benefit for supportive housing and health programs for those living with HIV/AIDS in San Francisco, will take place on Monday, July 23, 6:30 p.m. at Catch, 2362 Market Street in San Francisco. Mecca SF—the event’s original venue—is closed for the immediate future due to the June 3 fire and ensuing remodeling delays.

Although the location has changed, the evening still promises to be a lively gathering of friends and community leaders, and will feature music, beverages, gourmet appetizers and raffle—which includes a video iPod, tickets and backstage passes to Kathy Griffin’s next Bay Area performance, an exclusive private dinner for eight with chef Kerry Alan and other unique items.

“Luckily no one was injured in the Mecca fire the night before our event,” said Red House Party event co-chair Nanette Lee Miller. “Although we’ve had to change the location, we’re still throwing the same festive party for a quintessentially Bay Area crowd for the same worthy cause.”

This annual benefit in the heart of the Castro honors over two decades of monumental support for people living with HIV/AIDS in San Francisco and raises crucial funds for Catholic Charities CYO HIV/AIDS supportive housing and health programs, which collectively provide direct services to approximately 1,100 clients per month.

“The HIV Services Division of CCCYO operates the largest residential, medical-care facilities for those with HIV/AIDS in San Francisco,” explains Brian Cahill, executive director of Catholic Charities CYO. “Support through events like the Red House Party is critical for these programs and the many clients we serve.”

As a first responder to the epidemic in 1985, Catholic Charities CYO continues to be one of the largest HIV/AIDS service providers on the West Coast, helping to address the financial, medical and emotional stresses of those living with HIV or AIDS. The scope and reach of CCCYO’s HIV/AIDS services is profound considering that 25% of the HIV/AIDS population in San Francisco has received direct assistance from CCCYO. Specifically, CCCYO provides over 200,000 nights of housing for women, children, LGBT and other individuals living with HIV/AIDS this year and every single year since 1985, and has provided over $2 million to help offset health care costs.

The Red House Party is part of Catholic Charities CYO’s Centennial celebration, which honors 100 years of the agency’s work as a critical safety net for families, children and those in need. Individual tickets are $125 and are on sale now at www.cccyo.org/redhouseparty and 415.972.1239.
