Children’s Village is a coming-together of 102 families and 31 teachers and administrators who express the eclectic quality and diversity of the Bay Area. Nine languages are represented, as are adoptive, gay, lesbian and one or more parent families. Open, communicative and inclusive; the Children's Village community is strong because we value each individual's unique contributions while underscoring the basic humanity we all share. We know that by combining complementary strengths we make actualizing dreams and ambitions more possible.

Here is what community members have to say:

"When I think about Children's Village I think of warm, nurturing interactions between staff and children. This is a place where diversity is not only represented but embraced!"

Dedrea Swanson
Parent of J'Den in the Butterfly Room
Head Teacher - Infant/Toddler Program

"Children's Village is an amazing, diverse and vibrant community. Our son truly loves the center and we are very pleased with the education they provide him. Parents are commited to the center and play an active role. Most recently several parents volunteered time to work with staff to develop an outdoor play area that rivals many SF parks. We could not be happier."

Elizaba Ninen
Parent of Lucas in theBunnies Room

“Because the children decide what they want to learn, both the teachers and kids are in a constant state of discovery. It’s exciting.”

Dana Hinchliffe
Head Teacher – Preschool Program

"I love the diversity. My daughter comes home from school speaking phrases in spanish and she can count in Chinese."

Michelle Rodriquez
Parent of Megan in the Monkey's Room

The Smile says it all...

Janet

"I used to go here when I was little, now I like to visit and help with the cultural events"

4th grader Josiah Nunley

"As the name implies, Children's Village is a community. It's our goal to create as 'near perfect a society' as we are able so children will expect to live in a world where individuality, expression, respect, compassion and exciting new experiences prevail. I believe this expectation can fule each childs motivation, act as the foundation of self esteem, and be the heart of empathy. Working with parents and staff to create this 'perfect society' brings out the best in us all."
