More than 475 guests attended the 11th Annual Loaves & Fishes
Awards Dinner on April 11 at the Westin St. Francis Hotel. Honorees George
M. Marcus, Chairman Emeritus of Levi Strauss & Co. Robert
Haas, and All
Stars Helping Kids Founder and President Ronnie Lott joined members of
the Loaves & Fishes Leadership Fund for this elegant and inspiring evening.
“The
2008 Loaves & Fishes Leadership Fund & Dinner successfully raised over
$1.5 million to directly help those most in need in the Bay Area,” reported
CCCYO board member, Maureen O’Brien Sullivan who, along with her husband
Craig Sullivan, Co-Chaired the dinner.
In addition to long-time supporters of Catholic Charities
CYO and friends and relatives of the honorees, public officials
attending were California Attorney
General Jerry Brown, former San Francisco Mayors Art
Agnos and Frank Jordan, former San Jose Major Ron
Gonzales, and 11th
Congressional District Representative
Anna Eshoo.
Said CCCYO Executive Director Brian Cahill, “We were again overwhelmed by how
compassionately our lead supporters respond to the needs of our community.”
The Loaves & Fishes Dinner is an annual event which has raised more than $9.5
million for the programs of Catholic Charities CYO since 1998. The event was
founded by immediate past board president Clint Reilly and then Archbishop
William Levada.
