We deliver nutritious meals and a friendly visit to hundreds of homebound San Mateo and Marin seniors and disabled adults Monday through Friday. This program provides meals to individuals living at home who are unable to prepare their own meals or go out to eat and who have little to no assistance in obtaining adequate meals. Meals on Wheels can be provided during short-term convalescence or long-term disability. Meals on Wheels is not just a nutritious meal, it also provides a daily check-in, a friendly visit and a link to other available social services.

Meals on Wheels in San Mateo County, Daly City to Belmont

A meal is delivered to your door, hot or chilled, Monday through Friday between the hours of 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. A registered dietician carefully prepares menus to ensure that each meal furnishes one-third of the daily nutritional requirements.

Upon enrollment in the program, one of our case managers will make an appointment to visit with you in your home shortly after you begin receiving your meals. They will discuss your health and living situation and provide you with information about and referrals to other services you may want or need. They will check in with you periodically to see how you are getting along. You may call anytime with questions or concerns.

Registered dieticians will be happy to discuss your personal nutrition with you, providing expert advice about salt intake, diabetic control, weight management or other dietary concerns.

Meals on Wheels of Marin

Meals on Wheels of Marin began its mission in July 2006. Meals on Wheels of Marin is dedicated to providing nutritious meals and compassionate outreach to isolated homebound seniors throughout Marin County. Our goal is to help give seniors the support they need to remain in their own homes, living in dignity while avoiding premature institutionalization in nursing homes or other facility settings.

From Sausalito to Novato, from Tiburon to Point Reyes more than 300 seniors are served every day. Designed and overseen by a registered nutritionist, each day’s delivery menu consists of a frozen entrée (a protein, starch and vegetable) and a supplement bag with milk, bread and fruit. Meals are prepared without concentrated sugars and no added salt and meet the specifications required by the Marin County Department of Health and Human Services as well as the California Department of Aging.

Delivering not only a nutritious and healthy meal each day, our drivers provide daily human contact and a well-being check for the seniors we serve. Our social work team also maintains regular contact with out clients to ensure quality of service and to provide information on other programs available to seniors in Marin County.

For more ambulatory seniors who desire a congregate meal setting where they can socialize with other seniors as well as eat an inexpensive, healthy meal, we also provide meals at four different senior activity sites in Novato, Woodacre and Point Reyes Station.

Meals on Wheels of Marin operates with a combination of paid driving staff and an invaluable volunteer component. Through the combined efforts of Catholic Charities CYO and local parishes, Meals on Wheels of Marin has begun an exciting partnership with community parish volunteer teams to deliver to routes in their own neighborhoods. The first partnership has started with St. Isabella’s parish in San Rafael. This enables us not only to serve more seniors in need, but to bring into sharper focus the ideal of home delivered meals as an important and truly basic opportunity to serve.
